I’m always thrilled when the delivery window closes for Christmas, it’s like the universe is confirming it’s too late, there’s nothing more you can do. It’s time to sit back, settle in and enjoy the holidays, however you wish to celebrate them (or not!).
Here’s 10 things you can cross off your list this year:
Sending humble-brag Christmas cards.
Justifying your life or choices to anyone, family or otherwise. Let them think whatever they like.
Wearing matching pyjamas or outfits. Who started this trend?
Making aesthetic food. Beige food is the best.
Cooking everything yourself. It’s ok to buy in whatever you can.
Starting or continuing traditions that you don’t love. Let it go.
Decorating with perfectly curated baubles.
Dressing up in uncomfortable clothing.
Anything else that isn’t bringing you joy.
Taking any notice of this list, or any other list, gift guide, suggestions or advice.
I’d love to hear what other expectations you’re letting go of this year in the comments below.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

P.S. You’ve bought enough presents. Stop and relax. Also they don’t need to be beautifully wrapped.
Hard agree with this whole list - as I write, I’m wearing a very chic travel ensemble of trackies, Tevas and a tshirt that has a mysterious stain on it courtesy of the two year old. I asked my husband to wrap the presents this year and they look exactly like presents that have been wrapped by an experimental physicist. Good luck to the children trying to get in to the presents!
Happy Christmas and New Year - here’s to 2025 being a year of health, pockets of joy and ease ✨✨
I love this list and agree with you!
